Membership
Unlike many racing syndicates or clubs, you will not be just one of a large number of members who have virtually no part to play in the owning of a horse. Here the maximum number of Memberships available in the Club is 200, and the Club Manager is a shareholder thus ensuring his commitment to the success of the operation. The Membership Fee has been kept to a reasonable level but anyone wishing to acquire more than one membership share can do so. The club has been registered formally at the British Horseracing Authority and operates in accordance with the rules of racing.
Barry Root, who is owner of the Thaxted-based bloodstock agency Algarve Bloodstock will manage the club’s affairs, with the club bank account being maintained at Weatherbys in England, and will report to members on a regular basis. He and his wife Joan are also racehorse owners, having bred racehorses in France and England, and their agency operates regularly at the sales at Newmarket, England and at Deauville, France.
A Membership Pack comprising Racing Club metal badge, membership certificate, copy of the rules of the club, pedigrees and photos of the horses is supplied to each member upon joining.
Financial Package
The Annual Membership Fee is £295 for a Single Membership, which is payable as a lump sum upon application, or by two equal instalments of £150 each on 1st January and 1st June, and is fully inclusive up until 31 December.
A special offer is applicable from 2009 for a member's spouse or partner which entitles them to membership for only an additional £75.
Corporate Membership is also available for an annual fee of £750 - this gives an entitlement to the equivalent of four individual memberships and is transferable.
There is no limit to the number of membership fees you can purchase, subject to availability – so you can also purchase for other members of the family or friends.
Membership of the Club also also incoporates the RAG Horse Racing Syndicate (Army & Navy Club) members.
Prize money won by the club will be distributed between members as a dividend at the end of the financial year. Club members are not owners of the horse(s) unless a full Ownership Share is purchased, so there is no entitlement to a share of the proceeds of the eventual sale of the horse(s). However, anyone wishing to purchase a full Ownership Share of the horse(s) can do so by paying the appropriate share of the capital value of the horse(s), and share of training fees, details of which are shown on the Ownership Share page. There is normally a limit of 50% available to be sold in Ownership Shares.
- You can pay by credit card. A MONTHLY INSTALMENT SCHEME IS ALSO AVAILABLE.
